Call to Worship
One: Open wide the doors,
All: Let the people in.
One: Open wide the doors,
All: God is found within.
One: Open up your hearts,
All: See what love can do.
One: Open up your hearts,
All: Let God work through you.
One: Open up your minds,
All: See a better world.
One: Open up your minds,
All: God dreams through you.
One: Open up your voices,
All: Sing your praise aloud.
One: Open up your voices,
All: Sing of love for all.

Invocation
Come, Lord Jesus, open us to the wonder of your amazing grace, show us the fullness of your salvation, grant us the peace that passes all understanding. We place ourselves in your care and yield our lives to your touch. Speak to us today in word and silence. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer of Confession
God of compassion, who put such joy and care in Jesus, forgive us that so little of your blessing reaches others through us. We have been guilty of keeping silent when a word was needed; we have talked of trivial concerns in the face of deep hurt and suffering; we have avoided strangers, not willing to risk relationships.  Your call to be fishers of people is a nice story that we keep at a distance. We fear your call to love, to turn the other cheek, to forgive — to follow you at all costs. Help us in our honesty and our pretending to truly hear your love, your grace, and your forgiveness. Amen.

An Affirmation of Faith: The Christian Life
(Matthew 5:14,16; Romans 12:9; Galatians 5:25-26; Colossians 3:12; Titus 2:11-13)
We believe that we are the light of the world. We believe we should let our light shine before others, so that they may see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven.
We believe that our love should be genuine. We believe that we should hate what is evil, and that we should hold fast to what is good.
We believe that if we live by the Spirit, we should also be guided by the Spirit. We believe we should not become conceited, compete against one another, or envy one another.
We believe that we are God’s chosen ones. We believe that we should clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
We believe that we are called to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly, while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ

Prayer
God of new life, refurbish in us the adventuresome spirit of faith. As we renew our vows and commitment to you, rejuvenate in us the desire to become more deeply faithful. Grant us conviction of your ongoing presence, in darkness and in light, so that we might know the quiet joy of believing. In our time of renewal, may we grow. May we invite others to your way, truth and life. And may we always know that you are the reason for our being and our becoming. We give you thanks, O God, in the name of Christ. Amen.
