: An Advent Reflection on Isaiah 64:1-9 (Year B- Advent 1)
In our fast-paced society today, it can be easy to forget the power of crying out to God in prayer. Isaiah 64:1-9 is a beautiful passage that highlights the importance of calling out to God in times of need.
Isaiah 64:1 begins with the prophet crying out to God, “Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains would tremble before you!” This is a bold and urgent prayer, expressing Isaiah’s deep desire for God to intervene in a powerful way. It’s a reminder that we can come to God with the same urgency and boldness, pouring out our hearts before Him in prayer.
Verses 2-4 of this passage continue with Isaiah expressing his longing for God’s presence and power.
